About Us
Based in the heart of Lancashire, Reedy's Naturally produces a versatile range of hand made luxury preserves and savoury condiments.
We use a very simple principle, take the best Lancashire ingredients whenever available and turn them into some of the
finest produce Lancashire has to offer. All our products
are additive free, hand prepared, hand made in small batches and cooked in open pans to maintain a naturally exceptional taste.
We don't use artificial ingredients of any sort and are one of the few producers who set their preserves by using freshly squeezed lemon juice
and their own pectin made from fresh apples.
We never cut corners when making our chutneys and relishes either. Everything we use is freshly prepared by hand from chopping the onions
to skinning and chopping fresh ripe tomatoes, very time consuming but well worth the effort when you taste the results!
Our Ethics
Being as environmentally friendly as we can has always been important to us and this was recognised when we were one of
only 4 companies to be shortlisted for the Food Northwest Environmental Sustainability Award 2009.
We endeavour to get our vegetable waste composted. Any cardboard boxes we don't reuse are recycled by a local company. We use recycled paper for much of our correspondence
and print using a gel printer which is far more environmentally friendly than using a laser printer. Because we print most of our own material and labels, we only print what we need.
Our Suppliers
With a love for the environment and a keen interest in good locally grown ingredients we now have a great network of growers that we use. Most of our strawberries are grown in Lancashire, onions and beetroot come from Fylde View farm, Hesketh Bank nr Preston. James and stephanie grow a red baron variety of onion for us which is fabulous in our red onion marmalade. Many of our apples are from Eddisbury Fruit Farm at Kelsall and the old orchards of the Parrox Hall Estate nr Fleetwood.

How We Began
Back in the Autumn of 2005 the business concept was born out of an unhappy and stressful job (as a Senior Business Analyst in IT), a long and boring commute of up to 2 hours each way and a greenhouse full of tomatoes that wouldn’t ripen! ‘What on earth am I going to do with all these tomatoes?’ I asked Mum. ‘Here you are, have a go at making something that will keep’ she said and handed me an old battered aluminium preserving pan she was given as a present in the 50’s and an old farmhouse kitchen cookbook which had a chapter on preserving techniques and recipes. So I began…. That Christmas, you guessed it, almost everyone (family friends and work colleagues) were presented with at least one jar of my efforts… and luckily the feedback was great! So I began to experiment more. The following year, after 20 years with the same company, the head office relocated and I was given the opportunity to take redundancy, a very scary thought. I shut my eyes, gritted my teeth and in the February of 2007 swapped my shiny posh new company car for a very dependable estate big enough for events and deliveries and Reedy’s Naturally was born. Then began a very steep learning curve and the hard work to build a business from scratch. About 2 and a half years ago, John joined the business full time after taking redundancy as the Stations and Security Manager for a major rail network. And 18 months ago we moved from a home based business to a unit with purpose built kitchens designed by ourselves, another very daunting commitment but well worth the effort when you’ve taken the plunge!
